Carbon Filters

Airex Filter Corporation provides an effective solution for the removal of noxious odors, gases, and many other airborne contaminants which can cause potential health risks associated with poor indoor air quality. The Airex Carbon Media substrate is a polyester fiber, that has been impregnated with activated carbon, forming millions of pores and interconnected capillary passages which act as a molecular magnet to absorb molecules. The efficiency of the carbon substrate by itself is rated at under 20%. By backing a dust filtration media, fiberglass or polyester, with the impregnated activated carbon we achieve a dual filtration effect adding to the efficiency of the filter. The substrate filters the particulate matter, while the activated carbon filters the gas or vapor contaminants which can be more irritating or harmful on electronic components. Carbon media can also be added to the air leaving side of a MERV 8 or MERV 11 pleat  pack to help increase the overall efficiency. Technical data differs depending on material used in front of the carbon media.

The Airex CPM Filter provides an effective solution for the removal of noxious odors, gases, and many other airborne contaminants which can cause potential health risks associated with poor indoor air quality. The Airex Carbon Media substrate is a polyester fiber, that has been impregnated with activated carbon, forming millions of pores and interconnected capillary passages which act as a molecular magnet to absorb molecules. We pleat the carbon media for more surface area making the filter more effective for removal of contaminants. By backing the pleated pack with an additional flat layer of carbon, we have created a dual stage carbon pleat (CPMDS) adding even more adsorption capabilities. We always suggest a pre filter in front of the all carbon filters to help extend the life of the carbon. The activated carbon media filters the gas or vapor contaminants which can be more irritating or harmful on electronic components. Carbon filters can be used in combination with fiberglass, polyester, or pleated filters to create multiple stages of filtration.

FCP-OG Odor Guard Pleated
Carbon Filters

The FCP-OG Carbon Pleat adsorbers are designed for the removal of malodorous compounds at low concentration levels. By utilizing the latest technology in fine mesh activated carbon, this product provides high removal efficiency of nuisance odors. The FCP-OG filter is a pleated activated carbon filled nonwoven media sealed within a moisture resistant beverage board frame. The media is filled with fine mesh activated carbon through the depth of the filtering material. The ultrapure carbon is thermally bonded to the media fibers providing a superior bond. This process allows maximum carbon surface area and optimizes efficiency and available capacity for an exceptional adhesion of granular and consistent carbon distribution. This process reduces channeling and minimizes pressure loss. The FCP products offer exceptional performance in efficiency and capacity compared to products manufactured from carbon slurry media or carbon/polyester pads. The FCP-OG filter is available in a wide range of sizes for all commercial, industrial and residential applications. The support members are an integral part of the frame and are bonded to each pleat on both sides to insure pleat spacing and stability.

The NEW CCPM MERV 8 Carbon Combo pleated filters are available in a wide range of sizes for all commercial, industrial and residential applications. The new Intreped 508GP media has a first stage electrostatically charged media designed to attract and hold airborne contaminants providing excellent particulate filtration while protecting the second stage carbon media from particulate loading to ensure maximum odor removal capability. The downstream layer is optimized for rapid adsorption and retention of gaseous contaminants from the air stream. The carbon combination provides an effective solution for the removal of noxious odors, gases, and many other airborne contaminants which can cause potential health risks associated with poor indoor air quality. This product is available in all standard sizes as well as any custom size.

Superflow-VC V-Bank
Carbon Cartridge Filters

The Airex Superflow-VC filter is designed to remove gaseous contaminants to improve indoor air quality in a number of different applications such as: loading docks, hospitals, museums, airports, research facilities and office buildings. Used in both recirculation and outdoor ventilation air intake systems, these high efficiency contaminant adsorbers easily control low PPM down to PPB levels of gaseous and vaporous compounds. Superflow-VC filters are made by arranging eight 1" deep carbon panels in a V-Bank configuration to provide a high mass of carbon and a low pressure drop. The carbon panels are a honeycomb structure completely filled with granular virgin coconut shell activated carbon TS 201 with a minimum 60% CTC. Adsorbents are available to remove specific contaminants such as acid gases, aldehydes and ammonia. Particulate contamination must be considered when utilizing gas vapor phase adsorbers. We recommend at a minimum the Airex PM40 pleated MERV 8 as a pre filter to be installed on the upstream side of the VC to help extend the service life by reducing dirt build up.

Carbon media is available is rolls or pre cut pads 3/8 of an inch thick. If additional filtration is needed you can double up the media for a more effective removal of gas or odors. Our 4mm Virgin Bituminous Coal is an activated carbon that is suitable for the removal of a wide range of organic pollutants in the vapour phase.
